Market at Ag Heritage Park opens 2018 season May 3

The Market at Ag Heritage Park will kick off its 14th season on the Auburn University campus Thursday, May 3, at 3 p.m. and will continue every Thursday, 3-6 p.m., through Aug. 30.

Sponsored by Auburn’s College of Agriculture, the outdoor farmers market is located beside Ag Heritage Park’s Edward L. Lowder Red Barn at 580-B South Donahue Drive. The entrance is on South Donahue, near the intersection of South Donahue and West Samford Avenue.

Each week, the 2018 Market will feature area growers peddling a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables that will change as the summer season progresses.

“The cool weather has most of our growers a little behind their normal schedule this year, but fresh strawberries should be a big draw for the first few weeks, until the summer vegetables come in,” manager David Lawrence said.

In addition to fresh produce, shoppers will find other local goods—honey, homemade jellies and relishes, hanging baskets, soaps and more—at The Market each week. The Market will be open rain or shine, unless severe weather threatens the safety of customers, vendors and workers.

“We’re looking forward to another year of providing a venue where the campus community and area residents can buy the freshest fruits and vegetables directly from the folks who grew them,” Lawrence said.

The Market at Ag Heritage Park is free and open to the public.
