Continue Part of an Auburn Tradition

The replacement trees for the iconic oaks at Toomer’s Corner were planted on February 14, 2015, and the tree closest to Magnolia Avenue was again replaced in July 2015 due to the tree’s decline. The tree closest to College Street formed acorns in fall of 2015, which were collected and planted.

The oaks were grown in greenhouses and outdoors under the care of Department of Horticulture experts. Seedlings from those acorns have grown into vigorous 2 – 3’ tall offspring with dark glossy foliage and are available for purchase on this website below.

How do I plant my new tree?

We recommend hiring a professional landscape installer, but you can refer to the Alabama Cooperative Extension System’s guide to planting and care of Woody Landscape Plants and Management

What is the difference between a clone and a seedling?

A seedling tree is a tree that has been grown from a seed. The mother tree bears the acorns, so it is a known parent, however, pollen from another tree of the same species could pollinate the mother tree, thereby producing a tree of the same species, but with genes from both parents.

A clone is vegetatively-propagated tree, i.e., a small shoot from the original tree has been rooted and the small tree is now genetically identical to the parent tree.

What payment types do you accept?

We accept cash, check (made out to Auburn University), and credit cards for online orders.
