Seven College of Agriculture students were recently awarded scholarships by the Alabama Nursery and Landscape Association at the Gulf States Horticultural Expo in Mobile.

The scholarship recipients include horticulture students Juana Aviles, Eli Dunn, Prospero Hernandez, Jarod Horne and Taylor Oslin; also, agricultural science students Ben Castleberry and Coleman Lett.

Desmond Layne, Department of Horticulture head, commended the students’ accomplishments.

“I am proud of these students for being recognized and awarded with scholarships,” Layne said. “This is a great accomplishment for these future educators, growers and green industry leaders.”

The ALNLA is a professional trade association that has served Alabama’s green industry since 1951.
