The College of Agriculture is taking applications to sponsor two students to attend Ag Promise on March 5-7  in Washington, DC. Ag Promise is targeted for you and beginning farmers interested in learning how legislation is written and how it is encouraged through federal process. Attendees will receive updates on the pressing issues facing agriculture, meet with  policy makers from Congress and influencers from around the capitol and more. The college will be sponsoring 2 students to attend the conference. Students interested in attending should submit a 250-500 word essay answering the question “What in your opinion are five of the most critical issues facing the next generation of agriculturalists?”  Essays must be submitted by Tuesday, January 31 at 4:45 pm to Megan Ross.

IFDC seeking Science Writer

This position provides support to the Research function as a technical writer in the development of contracts, reports, and small grants; conversion of existing reports into manuscripts following guidelines of respective journals; and other duties as needed.

Duties may include:

  • Writing technical documents (reports, manuscripts, proposals) and translating to simple briefs and flyers for non-technical readers.
  • Developing website content based on technical documents.
  • Creating infographics and other interactive media from technical documents.
  • Reviewing and editing technical documents to ensure clarity and proper English usage.

Medxcel’s 2023 Summer Landscaping Internships

Horticulture Therapy Program Developer Intern -This intern will create a pilot for therapy gardens. This intern will work cross functionally to determine locations, the design and the maintenance plan. This intern will present their findings and recommendations on how we can incorporate this on a wider scale.

Non-Potable Water Analyst Intern – This intern will evaluate how to reduce iron in our water supply. This intern will conduct water analysis and then determine the system upgrades and maintenance plans needed.  This intern will present the pros and cons on the strategy based of their analysis and how we provide enhanced water treatment solutions.

Landscaping Compost Program Developer Intern- This intern will identify the best approach to creating a national landscape composting program. This intern will identify the best location, labor requirements and the maintenance process.  The intern will present the results to include the best locations to roll this out across the company.

 Landscaping Environmental Sustainability Pathways Interns – This intern will analyze the benefit of autonomous mowers across the industry to help reduce the impact on environment and reduce labor pressure.  This intern will analyze the current carbon footprint, labor required as well as the safety against autonomous mowers.  This intern will present on their findings are recommendations on the impact of carbon emission and labor.

Landscaping Organic Fertilizer Intern- This intern will analyze the benefit of utilizing organic fertilizers and herbicides vs chemical fertilizer and herbicides . This intern will present on their finding on the environmental impact of switching from chemicals to organic fertilizers and herbicides.

FC Cincinnati Internship Opportunities

FC Cincinnati has two available positions, currently. One will be stationed at TQL Stadium and one at Mercy Health Training Center. Both of these facilities are less than 5 years old and are in great condition! While each position is stationed at separate facilities, students will have opportunities to work at both facilities. It is crucial to allow students the opportunity to see both types of facilities.  For our internship program, they will teach students the ins and outs of maintaining a Major League Soccer facility. This includes, but not limited to, mowing, fertilizing, Integrated Pest Management, practice set-up, irrigation timing/run-time, irrigation repairs (hopefully not many), match setup, pitch markings and shifts, cultivation practices, etc.

Job highlights:

  • Pay: $16.92/hour + OT
  • Housing: No
  • Uniforms: Tops provided
  • Meals: Breakfast + lunch provided daily at MHTC. Occasional meals for TQL Stadium employee.

USGA Green Section Internship Program

The USGA is offering an excellent opportunity for students to participate in a paid internship program traveling with USGA agronomists. This internship opportunity is open to turfgrass management students to experience first-hand the USGA agronomic and resource management programs.
The selected students will travel with USGA agronomists on Course Consulting Service visits for one week between the months of May and August. This experience will broaden students’ perspectives of the turfgrass industry and influence the directions they take with their educational endeavors and career paths. Auburn Youth Programs seeking summer counselors

Auburn Youth Programs is in the process of recruiting students to work for us over the summer. This is an awesome opportunity not only to make money over the summer, but also sharpen and develop leadership skills. AYP hosts summer camps for middle and high school students on Auburn’s campus from late may to the middle of June. Counselor positions pay $410 a week +3 free meals a day and snacks . Staff positions pay $9.50 an hour. Meals and snacks are included during working hours. 20-40 hours a week depending on their availability.

Architect of the Capitol Summer Internships in Washington, DC

These summer internships are full-time, pay $17/hour and last 12 weeks. There are multiple positions available at several jurisdictions within the AOC. Three of the positions are only open to college students, and one (the Laborer/Gardener Aide) is open to college and high school students. The Horticulture Aides work with either the US Botanic Garden or Library of Congress, the Forester Aide works with the US Capitol Arboretum, and the Plant Health Care Aide works with the US Botanic Garden and the US Capitol Arboretum. The Laborer/Gardener Aides work at each jurisdiction (Capitol Grounds, Supreme Court, Botanic Garden and Library of Congress). Apply by January 31, 2023.

Little USA Solar seeking Digital Marketing Internship

Little USA Solar based out of Union Springs, AL is currently offering a Digital Marketing Internship. Little USA (LUSA) Solar Campus is a multi-purpose facility and organization designed as a working renewable energy training and study center serving the greater Union Springs and Eastern Alabama
