Beth Guertal, turfgrass management professor in the Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences, is one of six Auburn University faculty members campuswide selected by the Graduate Student Council as its 2016 Outstanding Graduate Mentors.
The winners were selected from a pool of 45 nominees for the awards, which recognize graduate faculty who go above and beyond their duties as teachers, advisers and mentors. Each nomination submitted had to be accompanied by at least two letters of support from students. A committee of graduate students reviewed the nominations and picked the winners based on the strength of the nominees’ letters.
Guertal and the five other 2016 Outstanding Graduate Mentors will be recognized at an April 27 awards ceremony hosted by the Graduate School and the Graduate Student Council.
The Graduate Student Council has presented the mentor awards since 2008.
