The College of Agriculture Scholarship Committee selected Alexandra “Lexie” Hare as the summer 2025 Dean’s Award recipient, recognizing her for academic excellence and service to the College of Agriculture.

Hare graduated Saturday with a Bachelor of Science in agricultural communications. Her time in the college was marked by extensive experience in agricultural communications, particularly with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.

She worked as an intern in Jefferson County, where she produced and scheduled digital content, filmed and edited instructional videos to support educational outreach across the county, and created budgets for promoting social media content to maximize visibility within target audiences. She also worked in Lee County, where she created educational and outreach materials, including articles, tailored to diverse audiences in agriculture, health, youth, and community development, and worked with Alabama Extension agents and specialists to translate research-based information into clear, accessible content for the public.

Hare also spent a semester as an intern in the college’s Office of Communications & Marketing, where she managed client-based and campaign-driven projects, ensuring timely and strategic communication deliverables; supported event planning efforts by creating social media content, capturing event photography, filming videos, and drafting scripts; and compiled and maintained a comprehensive database of Auburn-related social media accounts across platforms to support outreach and engagement strategy.

She credits the college for connecting her with a wide range of professionals in the industry, particularly Agricultural Communications Professor of Practice Adam Cletzer.

“I’m especially grateful to Dr. Cletzer, who stands out as one of the most impactful professors I’ve had,” she said. “His guidance, support and classes played an important part in my educational journey, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support.”

What she loves most about the College of Agriculture is the strong sense of community.

“It truly feels like a family, from the large variety of clubs and events to the constant support and kindness of the faculty,” she said. “Being surrounded by like-minded individuals who share my interests, goals, and aspirations for the agriculture industry made me feel right at home.

Her advice to future College of Agriculture students is to never be too proud or afraid to ask for help.

“I quickly learned that asking for help is not something to be embarrassed about, but instead a step towards success,” she said. “At Auburn, the faculty truly wants to see you thrive. They’re not only willing to help when you need it, but they also go above and beyond to offer guidance, extra resources and encouragement to make your experience at Auburn both successful and enjoyable.”
