Frank Mitloehner is a professor and air quality extension specialist in the Department of Animal Science at the University of California, Davis. He received his Master of Science in animal science and agricultural engineering from the University of Leipzig, Germany, and his Ph.D. in animal science from Texas Technical University. He serves as director of the CLEAR Center, which conducts air and climate research and related communication.
Mitloehner is an expert in agricultural air quality, livestock housing and husbandry. Overall, he conducts research that is directly relevant to understanding and mitigating air emissions from livestock operations, as well as the implications of these emissions for the health and safety of farm workers and neighboring communities.
Since he joined the UC Davis faculty in 2002, he published 130 peer-reviewed publications. Mitloehner has presented over 1,000 invited talks in front of national and international audiences.
