PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Vikas Mishra is an applied economist with expertise in econometrics and causal inference methods. He specializes in policy evaluations and uses quantitative and qualitative methods, and survey experiments in his research. As an Economist intern with the Amazon’s marketing measurement team, he estimated the impact of the Prime membership fee hike on the purchase behavior of Amazon Prime members using the quasi-experimental methods. Additionally, as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture, Texas A&M University, he contributed to the USDA-funded Food for Progress Project.

RESEARCH

Vikas’ research focuses on food policy, health and nutrition, household economics and international development. In his postdoctoral research, he collaborates with the Hunger Solutions Institute (HSI) in the College of Human Sciences and Dr. Joel Cuffey in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology to evaluate two nutrition incentive programs: “Double up Food Bucks (DUFBs) Alabama” funded by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and “Addmilk”, implemented across multiple U.S. states, funded by the Food and Nutrition Service(FNS), USDA.
