Research
Dr. Jia’s research focuses on food safety and microbiology. Her primary research interests include: 1) Foodborne pathogen detection: Developing innovative artificial intelligence-enabled biosensor technologies for the detection of foodborne pathogens (e.g., Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, and E. coli O157:H7) across the entire food supply chain, from farm to table; 2) Foodborne pathogen prediction and prevention: Developing mathematical models to support stakeholders in creating effective HACCP plans, optimizing food processing operations, predicting product shelf life, evaluating mitigation strategies, and performing pathogen risk assessments; 3) Biofilm Control: Investigating biofilm formation on food contact surfaces and exploring effective methods to prevent and control biofilm formation.
