DeVries named fisheries society fellow

Dennis DeVries

Dennis DeVries, professor in the School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences, has been inducted into the inaugural class of fellows of the American Fisheries Society. He received the honor in recognition of his outstanding contributions in leadership, research, teaching and mentoring, resource management and/or conservation, and outreach and interaction with the public.

DeVries also is one of four College of Agriculture faculty members whom Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has appointed to the Alabama Water Agencies Working Group’s focus-area panel on instream flow. Others appointed include Rusty Wright and Elise Irwin, associate professors in the School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences, and biosystems engineering professor Puneet Srivastava, director of the Water Resources Center at Auburn University.
