2015 Ag Roundup raises record amount
Ag Roundup’s 35-year-long streak of picture-perfect weather ended Oct. 3 with the 2015 edition, but the steady mist and gray skies didn’t hamper attendance or dampen the spirits of the more than 2,600 folks who packed Auburn University’s Ag Heritage Park for the annual homecoming tailgate bash. The event spotlights foods grown or processed in Alabama, and this year’s fare ran the gamut from steamed edamame to bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin to chocolate-covered crickets.
The Auburn Agricultural Alumni Association, which co-sponsors Ag Roundup with the College of Agriculture, raised a record $28,850 for student scholarships at this year’s Ag Roundup, including $11,715 in gate proceeds, $10,135 from the live and silent auctions and $7,000 in additional sponsorship support. Proceeds from Ag Roundup go toward scholarships for students in the College of Ag.
