Short Bio
Dr. Prasad, an associate professor & Extension specialist and Graduate Program Officer of the Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences Department joined Auburn University in the Fall of 2017. He holds a joint appointment at two Departments: Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences and Department of Animal Sciences. He also holds an adjunct appointment in the Biosystems Engineering. His research and Extension program is interdisciplinary, and he uses a systems approach to utilize animal waste and manage agricultural nutrients to protect soil, water, and air quality while increasing the sustainability of agricultural systems. Dr. Prasad has published 35 refereed publications and 40 peer-reviewed Extension articles. More than 15 of his publications are in high-impact factor journals and have been recognized by outstanding publication awards. He is a recipient of The “Rittenour Award for Production Agriculture & Forestry Research” given by Alabama Farmer Federation, “The Inspiring Young Scientist Award” by the Environmental Quality Section of the American Society of Agronomy, the Achievement Award by the Alabama Association of County Agricultural Agents; the Visionary Leadership Award by Epsilon Sigma Phi, Alpha Pi Chapter, and four times winner of Dean’s Grantsmanship Awards. His program has generated > $12 million in research dollars as PI and CO-PI from USDA-NRCS, USDA-NIFA, and state agencies. His program has graduated 8 MS students, 4 PhD, and 6 MAg as major advisor, and he currently mentors nine graduate students. Four of his graduate students have won the Outstanding Graduate Student award. Additionally, his graduate students received 54 awards at national and state-level competitions. He is also an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE and past Associate Editor for the Journal of Agricultural & Environmental Letters.More bio information
