Research

Populations must adapt to a wide array of natural and anthropogenic environmental stresses if they are to remain viable. Much of my research examines individual and population level effects of stressors on molluscs and crustaceans, and how these stressors affect population viability. Research projects focus on suspended sediments, advection, developmental bottlenecks, invasive species, thermal stress, and agrochemicals in lentic and lotic systems. Aquatic systems I have worked on range from large, tidal and non-tidal rivers, to small streams, reservoirs, and floodplain lakes.  My current research focuses on population dynamics of Southeastern molluscan and crustacean fauna, with an emphasis on unionid mussels and crayfish.
