Extension Experience

David is an aquaculture specialist with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and an associate Extension professor in Auburn University’s School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences. He specializes in aquaculture education, freshwater fish production, and pond management. He has been actively involved in both the commercial and educational sectors of aquaculture for over 30 years and has a broad perspective of the issues and opportunities facing the aquaculture industry. David has been a member of the World Aquaculture Society and the US chapter since 1993 and has served in numerous leadership roles.

As a catfish farm manager in central Missouri, he practiced all aspects of fish production from business planning to hatchery operations through marketing directly to chefs. David has participated in many multi-state projects and served on the USDA national aquaculture extension steering committee for more than 10 years. More globally, he has visited aquaculture facilities in ten countries learning and providing input. His topical aquaculture YouTube channel and videos on other platforms have received over one million views reaching more than 100 countries.
