Short Bio

Being part of the AU Hort team as an Assistant Professor of Ornamental Horticulture, focusing on ornamental crop production, I bring 14+ years of expertise in propagation/production/breeding of ornamentals like camellias (Alabama's State Flower), and 7+ years of multi-state, interdisciplinary work on integrated pest management for crapemyrtles, the top-selling flowering tree in the U.S. I believe breakthroughs bloom when academics and industry work shoulder-to-shoulder, and I see tremendous opportunities to collaborate with Alabama’s nursery and greenhouse communities. I’m also eager to mentor the next generation of horticulturists so they graduate well-prepared to help our state’s flourishing green industry continue to thrive.
