Professional Experience
Ph.D. Researcher in Biosystems Engineering with experience in soil and water quality, nutrient and trace metal transport, biochar and engineered soil amendments, and agricultural wastewater management. Conducts laboratory batch and column experiments, adsorption and transport modeling, and water and soil analyses using advanced analytical techniques. Experienced in HYDRUS-1D modeling, statistical data analysis, experimental design, scientific manuscript preparation, and presenting research findings at professional conferences.
Research
Atiqur Rahman’s research focuses on nutrient and trace metal retention and transport in agricultural soils, with particular emphasis on biochar and engineered soil amendments. He investigates how soil amendments influence phosphorus, nitrogen, and trace metal mobility under manure and wastewater applications using batch adsorption studies, soil column experiments, and transport modeling. His research also incorporates HYDRUS-1D, adsorption kinetics and isotherms, and advanced soil and water quality analyses to develop sustainable strategies for reducing contaminant losses from agricultural systems.
