2017 Ag Roundup set Sept. 16 at Ag Heritage Park

The Department of Horticulture’s fresh-from-the-fryer sweet potato chips are a perennial favorite at Ag Roundup.

Fall Roundup and Taste of Alabama Agriculture, better known as Ag Roundup, will celebrate its 38th year on the Auburn University campus homecoming Saturday, Sept. 16. The event will get underway at 11 a.m. at Ag Heritage Park and run until 2 p.m., an hour before kickoff of the homecoming football game between the Auburn Tigers and the Mercer University Bears.

Sponsored by Auburn’s College of Agriculture and the Auburn Agricultural Alumni Association, Ag Roundup is a giant tailgate party that features a wide variety of foods grown and/or processed in Alabama. Typical fare runs the gamut from fried chicken and fried catfish to collard greens and boiled peanuts.

The event is an opportunity to increase public awareness of Alabama agriculture’s impact on the state’s economy and of Auburn’s heritage as a land-grant university.

In addition to food, Ag Roundup will feature children’s activities, informative exhibits and live and silent auctions, the proceeds of which support student scholarships in the College of Agriculture. Admission to Ag Roundup is $5 per person, payable at the gate, with children 6 and under admitted free.

Ag Heritage Park is located on South Donahue Drive between South Donahue’s intersections with Lem Morrison Drive and West Samford Avenue. Ag Roundup’s main entrance is between the Ham Wilson Livestock Arena and the Alabama Farmers Pavilion.
