William Robinson Lanier
W.R. Lanier founded and operated a successful Purebred Hereford Operation in Choctaw County and was instrumental in development of the cattle industry in Alabama. He was active in both civic and agriculture industry programs in Choctaw County, Alabama, and nationally.
He served three terms as president of the Alabama Hereford Breeders Association and was president of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association in 1978. Mr Lanier was instrumental in founding and development of the Alabama Beef Political Action Committee and was a member of the Alabama 4-H Foundation.
In addition to agricultural leadership, Mr. Lanier served on the Board of Directors of M&B Railroad and the Black Warrior Electric Membership Cooperative. He also provided leadership for the Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce and was a silent contributor to many agricultural and civic enterprises in the Choctaw County area.
