What Jane Does Now
When managing a research station, most duties revolve around the various research projects including space allocation, implementation of research protocol, procuring supplies and daily care of the projects, managing and maintaining the financial integrity of the unit, providing leadership and direction for greenhouse staff, graduate students and university staff, maintenance and repair of greenhouse structures and all equipment, and a myriad of administrative duties.
It is hard to chose just one as so many of them had a tremendous impact on me. I had the honor of studying under many storied professors in the Department of Horticulture, working hard and earning my way. I enjoyed a rather intense 2004 football season, rolling Toomer’s Corner for the first time. I was among the first group of graduates to receive the newly designed Auburn class ring, but most importantly, as a non-traditional student, obtained my degree under the watchful eye of a young son who was allowed to see first hand all that is Auburn. It was really touching to see him so proud of me as I received my diploma. That is my greatest Auburn memory.
