Gabby Willhelm

Gabby Willhelm is a junior majoring in animal sciences from Huntsville, Alabama. Gabby first became involved with undergraduate research when the Honors College offered her a two-year scholarship to participate in research with Dr. Christy Bratcher. Gabby’s current research explores a potential method for screening bovine embryos for implantation using non-invasive molecular screening as opposed to morphological or more invasive molecular methods. Her specific goal is to develop an mRNA and protein level connexin/pannexin expression profile to help identify embryos with higher implantation potential. Gabby says she enjoys the hands-on nature of research that allows her to apply all the theoretical knowledge she has learned in lectures to real-world problems.
