LeeAnn Johnston - Ecological Engineering
LeeAnn Johnston is an ecological engineering senior who is passionate about finding solutions to real-world issues, and her experiences as an undergraduate researcher are giving her the opportunity to do that. Her research project focuses on determining how effective specific aquatic plants and microorganisms are in removing pollutants from contaminated water. She hopes her results can be used to improve existing water infrastructure or to set up easily accessible, cost-effective water filtration methods.
Project title: Exploring the removal of excess nutrients and heavy metals from polluted water bodies through the use of macrophytes and microorganisms
