HOMETOWN: Headland, Alabama
Agriscience Education undergraduate

A native of Headland, Leigh wants to use her agriscience education degree as a high school ag teacher or as an Extension agent.

What made you choose a degree in agriculture?
As a native of Headland, Alabama, I have been in or around agriculture my whole life. I have always felt that I would pursue a career path in agriculture and realize that obtaining a degree in ag education will enable me to contribute to this vital industry. With the influential help from family, friends and my hometown ag teacher I am pursuing a career in a field that I love. I look forward to teaching my future students about this industry and will hopefully lead them to a future career in agriculture.

Do you recommend students get an on-campus job? Why?
As a current student worker on campus, I highly recommend that students try to get a job on campus. I work with a great group of people. They are very flexible and allow me to work around my school schedule. They always remind me that academics come first, and then work. I am truly blessed to have such a great job and work with such a wonderful group of people.

What three things would you take to a deserted island?
A TV with the SEC Network to watch the Auburn Tigers, my Bible and water.

Are you a morning or night person?
I am a night person.

Describe the College of Ag in three words.
Friendly, caring and close-knit
