The College of Agriculture’s Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at Auburn University is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Professor with a primary focus on Agribusiness, and Entrepreneurship. The expected start date is August 1, 2015.

Responsibilities: This is a 9-month, tenure-track position with 40% instruction and 60% research responsibilities. The successful candidate will develop and implement a nationally-recognized research and teaching program that meets the changing demands of large and small agribusinesses that are evolving both locally and globally. While this is research and teaching appointment, the individual in this position will work with a wide range of agribusinesses in the state and beyond in applied research to help understand the factors that make agrifood businesses grow and become successful. The successful candidate will be able to work in multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems associated with emerging issues related to agribusiness and entrepreneurship. Specific responsibilities include expectations to : 1)publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals, 3) secure external funding to support the development of(his/her) research program, 4) teach innovative undergraduate and graduate level courses, 5) provide service to the department and university, and 6) provide leadership to the profession through regional/ national/international professional society participation. 

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics or closely related field from an accredited institution by the start date. The successful candidate must possess strong quantitative skills in statistical analysis and/or mathematical programming. Evidence of ability to conduct research, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively communicate in English are required. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment. Desirable qualifications include a record of securing extramural funding for research or educational programs, interest in or specialization in applied econometrics, and teaching experience.
